PIXEL8 // art installation

For the Chinook Blast, 2023

PIXEL-8 is an abstract art installation that can evolve depending on the participant. The installation is inspired by the act of play and vibrancy in an otherwise cold, inactive winter landscape. The 200 reflective pixels spanning 8 feet can be interacted with to provide a distorted reflection of the urban environment it is facing – or a distorted perspective of the user interacting with the installation. With lighting installed behind the reflective pixels, unexpected glowing rays of light become exposed, further adding to the unique dynamism of the pixelated board.

Completed in collaboration with Madisen Killingsworth, Shelby Christensen, Michael Gross.

A multidisciplinary design workshop focused on creating inspiring and meaningful experiences in our cities.
